The Palms Island (also known as Rabbit Island - Jaziret l Araneb) is a natural reserve (along with a couple of other surrounding islands).
It is only open for a short while during summer starting July, while the rest of the year it is a protected space for sea turtles and migratory birds.
It used to be called Rabbit Island due to the rabbit population there, which was removed later on to protect the rare birds & turtles as they used the island as a rest stop & breeding ground during the year.
The beach there is incredibly sandy and incredibly clean. The water is extremely clean.
The island itself can all be walked in about 30-40 minutes and mostly is sandy, has some rocky areas, and there's natural vegetation all over.
It is a great place for swimming, relaxing, & snorkeling.
You should bring your own food & drinks (or even barbecue), as there are no food or beverage facilities on the location.

To get there is very easy:
First, you go to "Mina" in Tripoli (simply drive along the seaside in Tripoli till you see boats and a bridge in the sea), then ask anyone where you can take a boat ride to the islands.
The trip is about 30 minutes and is only 5 USD (total for the roundtrip).
There is no food on the island itself so you have to bring your own food with you or you can eat in El Mina, this region is also known and popular in fish markets and restaurants, where you can visit many fish markets and choose fresh fish from fishermen. The town has popular seafood restaurants, where you can have lunch or dinner in a great location opposite the sea while eating famous and tasty fish and seafood.
Palms Island facing Tripoli's shore is a natural reserve of golden sandy beaches and amazingly clean water!
